Capital History Ottawa (#Colourized): Building the First Centre Block, 1860s

My latest for Apartment613! A faux photo essay on building of the original Parliamentary Centre Block, including snaps of 1860s Ottawa. Focusing on long-forgotten government photographer Samuel McLaughlin, a pioneer in the field on par with the great William Notman.

"View of Main Front and Entrance Towers, Parliament Buildings," ca. 1863. (Photo by Samuel McLaughlin via Library & Archives Canada – colourized by Ashley Newall)
